Alumni Spotlight Eric Francis

Eric, a proud BlazeSports alum, was introduced to wheelchair basketball at the age of five when he first attended a summer program sponsored by BlazeSports. From there, his passion for the sport grew, leading him to spend eight years as a dedicated member of our Jr. Hawks wheelchair basketball team.

Eric is a student-athlete at the University of Alabama, where he plays wheelchair basketball and competes as a seated thrower for Alabama’s Para Track and Field team, pursuing a degree in marketing with a concentration in social and digital media. His time with Blaze played a crucial role in shaping his journey preparing him for success at the collegiate level. He is set to earn his graduate degree in the spring of 2026.

One of Eric’s favorite memories with BlazeSports is attending the Nationals banquets. He had the chance to celebrate the hard work and dedication of his team.

BlazeSports helped prepare Eric by challenging him in his basketball career. BlazeSports showed him what it takes to compete at the collegiate level. Through former Jr. Hawks players, he gained invaluable insight into the dedication and effort required to succeed in college athletics.

Eric has always been a hard-working athlete and leader. His journey is a testament to the lasting impact of BlazeSports in developing athletes both in sport and in life. We’re incredibly proud of all he has accomplished and can’t wait to see what’s next for him. Roll Tide!
