Alumni Spotlight Tyler Brown

Tyler, a proud BlazeSports alumna from the Class of 2023, was involved with BlazeSports for three years after joining in 2020. During her time with the organization, she was a dedicated member of the swim team and served on the Youth Athlete Council, helping to amplify the voices of young athletes and shape the future of our adaptive sports programs.

Ty is currently a student at Dillard University, pursuing a degree in Psychology. This summer she is taking part in the McNair Scholars Program while doing summer research at the University of Alabama.

One of the most meaningful moments during her time with BlazeSports was her first swim meet following her amputation. Returning to the pool reminded her that anything was still possible and affirmed her resilience and determination. BlazeSports provided Tyler with a supportive space to grow and embrace her identity without hesitation. Reflecting on her experience, she shared, “Blaze equipped me with the confidence I needed to not just get back in the pool but to approach every day with my head held high.”

She has given back as an alumna by teaching our youngest swimmers in our learn to swim program. We are incredibly proud of all that Tyler has accomplished and look forward to seeing the impact she will continue to make in her community and beyond.
