Our alumni spotlight for September is Maggie Frederick! From a young age, she showed a clear passion for athletics. She discovered BlazeSports at a meet-and-greet and soon after attended summer camp. By age 10, she had become an active BlazeSports athlete, continuing her journey until she graduated high school and enrolled at the University of Illinois. However, her connection to BlazeSports didn’t end there.
Maggie returned for an internship, later working with BlazeSports early in her career. More recently, she served as one of our track coaches. In 2022, she made history as part of the inaugural Lady Ballers team—the first women’s wheelchair basketball team at BlazeSports!
Through BlazeSports, Maggie found a strong sense of belonging. She connected with others who faced similar challenges and learned how to support her teammates. She encourages parents to get their children involved, saying, “It’s super important to be around others who look like you, especially when having a disability. Blaze provided me with the community I was missing elsewhere.”
Now, Maggie works with Sandy Springs Parks and Recreation. We are incredibly grateful for her continued support and can’t wait to watch her journey unfold. Keep shining, Maggie! 🔥
