2025 Triumph of the Human Spirit Awards Gala

The annual BlazeSports Triumph of the Human Spirit Awards Gala honors those who have made a significant impact through adaptive sport and recreation. These awards pay tribute to the individuals, groups and organizations who demonstrate qualities beyond athletic achievement such as leadership, a positive attitude and who inspire, motivate and truly epitomize the Triumph of the Human Spirit.  The evening also recognizes leaders in community, business, government, media and public health who are examples of best practice in the inclusion and advancement of people with physical disabilities through adaptive sport and recreation.

Nomination Categories and Criteria

Youth Athlete of the Year

A youth athlete with a physical disability who overcame a challenging situation to not only survive but thrive on and off the field of play, who is dedicated, passionate and a positive role model to others.

Veteran Athlete of the Year

A Veteran athlete with a physical disability or PTS/PTSD who overcame a challenging situation to not only survive but thrive on and off the field of play, who is dedicated, passionate and a positive role model to others.

Coach of the Year

An outstanding teacher or coach of adaptive sports/physical education who focuses not just on success and winning but who teaches valuable life lessons through sport.

Outstanding Young Alumni

An young BlazeSports alumnus/alumna who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and service in the field of adaptive sports and recreation, the community, and his/her sport or profession.

Volunteer of the Year

A volunteer or organization who has displaying outstanding involvement in the support of adaptive sport and recreation. This can be a person, group, or an organization that has gone above and beyond to provide youth, adults, and veterans with physical disabilities with the confidence, support, and opportunities to be physically active.
