Our June Veteran Spotlight honors the memory of U.S. Army Veteran Wade Barbee, a cherished member of BlazeSports. Wade wasn’t just an exceptional athlete—he was a beacon of inspiration. His unwavering spirit and dedication made a lasting impact. Over the years, his contributions to our community have shaped the foundation of BlazeSports. His memory will continue to motivate and inspire us all.

Today, we celebrate Wade’s life and the deep influence he had on everyone at BlazeSports. As a BlazeSports athlete for 8 years, Wade participated in almost every veteran program. He enjoyed activities such as cycling, archery, rowing, yoga, tennis, and cornhole.

Wade earned numerous medals, including a gold in the Atlanta erg sprints, a first-place gold in the Head of the Hooch, and third place in the Peachtree Paragames Archery. He also consistently placed in the top three at the Golden Games and the Valor Games.

In 2021, Wade received the Veteran of the Year award at the Triumph of the Human Spirit Gala, Wade Barbee said that the BlazeSports programs motivated him, kept him moving, and improved his mindfulness and overall health.

Rest in peace, Wade. Your legacy will forever be a part of BlazeSports. Your dedication, spirit, and contributions have left an indelible mark on our community. You will always be remembered, and your impact will continue to inspire those who knew you. Our thoughts are with your loved ones, and we honor the profound difference you made.

Renee Wright, a proud United States Air Force veteran, has been a cherished member of BlazeSports for nine years. Introduced to the organization by another veteran, Renee now actively participates in cycling, bowling, the yearly 5K, and our annual Veteran Camp.
